Lawrence Miller (1922-2008)









Lawrence Miller was born on 5 Nov 1922 in Placentia,Calif.,to Ephraim Ashley Miller and Marion Hollinshead. He pass away on 15 Feb 2008 in The Dalles,Oregon.













NOTE: There are two names that were forgotten to put on Lawrence Miller's Obituarie,they were,Jaclyn Miller(Isaac's Wife) an Cameron(Isaac an Jaclyn Miller Son). Isaac Miller is a Grandson of Lawrence Miller and Cameron is a Great Grandson of Lawrence Miller.



On 13 July 1944,Lawrence was drafted and was inducted into the United States Army in Ft Lewis,Washington. Then he took basic training at Camp Roberts,Calif.
On 14th or 15th of Dec 1944,he departed from San Francisco,Calif.,on the USS General R.L. Howze(AP-134) to Oro Bay,New Guinea and arrived on 2 Jan 1945,then he departed to Hollandia Bay,New Guinea on 4 Jan 1945,then he departed to the San Pedro Bay(Leyte Island),Philippines an arrived on the 17th or 18th of Jan 1945.
He was assign to the 32nd Infantry Division and on 27 Jan 1945,the 32nd Division went ashore in the Mabilao Area of the Lingayen Gulf Beaches,Luzon Island and where his unit assembled in the Manaoag-San Vincente-Mapandan Area. He had fought in the "LUZON BATTLE" on the Villa Verde Trail in the Philippines.
In May of 1945,he got badly sick and was taken off the battle field an taken state side to be hospitalized. He learned latter,that his unit was wipe out and his best buddies were killed in action on the Villa Verde Trail,Philippines.
Sometime that year he went to Ft.Sam Houston in San Autonio,Texas,later went to Camp Dermott and Camp Robinson in Arkansas. These camps were German POW Camps,where he was a supply Sergeant.
In June 1946,he was sent to Ft.Lewis,Washington and was Honorably Discharge from the U.S. Army on 29 June 1946. He received the "Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal", "Philippine Liberation Service Medal with One Bronze Star", "American Thearter Service Medal", "Victory Medal" and a "Good Conduct Medal". He also,received a "Combat Infantryman M-1 Badge".

Lawrence pass away at the Oregon Verterans Home in The Dalles,Oregon on 15 Feb 2008.
He receivced Military Honors and was buried at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland,Oregon.
